Imam Shuaib - Utah Muslim Community and Spiritual Leader
A religious leader in West Jordan City, Utah, Imam Shuaib fulfills his community’s educational and spiritual needs. Imam Shuaib provides sermons at the Utah Islamic Center mosque before 800 worshippers each Friday and conducts prayer five times daily. His leadership extends to teaching classes for all ages, and he serves as principal of the 350-strong children's Sunday School.
Imam Shuaib holds an MA in Islamic theology and Arabic literature from Dar-ul-Uloom in Karachi, Pakistan. In the mid-1990s, he served as an Arabic language translator in India for an NGO. He also served as a Muslim chaplain at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in 2002. Two years later, he presented at the Parliament of World Religions Conference in Barcelona.
In Utah, Imam Shuaib aided the planning and construction of Utah state’s largest mosque. Moreover, Imam Shuaib has lectured regularly at institutions such as Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.
